Childcare Options
Nanny
A nanny will be involved in everything to do with the care of the children. She will be expected to organise their leisure programme, activities and meals and will generally have sole charge for long periods. She will keep the children’s clothing and rooms clean and tidy and spend time with them, whilst the parents are out or at work. She may be asked to look after a newborn baby whilst a mother returns to work. A nanny can live-in or live-out and work either on a full-time or part-time basis. Ideally she would have a recognized qualification and good references from previous employers.
Mother's Help
Amother’s help can be any age and will be involved in helping the parents with most aspects of running the home. She will be asked to look after the children when the parents are busy and to take care of general household duties. However, she will not be given sole charge of the children for long periods. A mothers’ help can either live-in or live-out and work either on a full-time or part-time basis. |

Hoiday Nanny
A holiday nanny will be employed during school holiday periods and will be expected to work along the same lines as a mother’s help/nanny. She will have responsibility for the children and will probably be asked to work full-time on a live-in or live-out basis. A small amount of babysitting may also be a requirement for this position and it would be quite usual for the holiday nanny to join the family on their annual holiday.
Ski/Summer Nanny
A ski/summer nanny will be employed by a travel company to assist in their resort crèche/nursery or possibly to work with a private family who has booked a ski/summer holiday. These nannies will normally work for the season (Skiing – December to April and Summer – April to November). It is also possible for a ski/summer nanny to work in a resort for a week or two at a time.
Maternity Nurse
A maternity nurse will generally be employed for a 4-6 weeks period from the date when a new mother is due back from hospital after having had her baby. She will live-in with the family, should be given her own accommodation, with all her meals provided. She will work a 6-day week with 1 day completely free. A maternity nurse, who will have extensive experience of newborn babies, will give complete care to the new baby and also help to create a relaxed, calm atmosphere in which the new mother may regain her strength after the birth.
Nursery Nurse
A nursery nurse will be employed by a Day Nursery or Playschool and will work on a full or part-time basis. Depending on her qualifications and experience, a nursery nurse will be given responsibility for a small group of children aged 3 months to 4 years.
Housekeeper
A housekeeper will undertake tasks relating to the smooth running of the household and will include cleaning, cooking, ironing, laundry and shopping. Many housekeepers will live-in and will expect to receive food and accommodation free.
Housekeeping and Maintenance Couple
A housekeeping and maintenance couple will be employed to undertake many different roles within the home. They will be responsible for the smooth running of the household, cleaning, ironing, family cooking, catering for formal or informal dinner parties, shopping, laundry, maintenance and security of the property, maintenance of swimming pool/tennis court and driving. They may also be asked to walk the family dog and to care for other domestic pets. Self-contained accommodation should be offered to a housekeeping and maintenance couple.

We offer short-term nannies/mothers’ helps who can step in at very short notice in an emergency.
